Senator Specter opposes the bailout. I got Senator Casey’s machine, but left a message anyway. I figured the republicans would oppose it, then held my nose as I entered democratic territory with our representative, Joe Sestak. I feel like I got the run-around. The guy said that Sestak awaits the full text of the bill, and will make his decision then. He promised me that a public statement would appear on his web site, so we shall see. I have a feeling he will vote for it.
Don’t feel nervous about calling your congresspeople. You just have to say a few things over the phone, or leave a message. Remember that numbers matter. For every constituent who calls, many others do not, and they take this into account. Pick up the phone and call. You will really feel like you made a difference.
