I had an interesting time watching the Rally footage. I didn’t go, so thanked Goddess for the Internet, though She would rear Her head before long. I heard that Cspan or Cspan2 would air the rally, so tuned in on the first day. They didn’t air it. Instead, I saw something which looked like the RNC convention, but something seemed different. This older guy went on about growing up as a Quaker, and some other things. After a time, they said “To get ready, we’ve been playing old speeches from past nominations.” I thought things felt different!
I had planned to watch breakthematrix’s feed, but they had technical problems the whole time. They did get on air in time for my friend Kurt Wallace to have a wonderful interview with Ron Paul! Various hosts covered the rest of the day when they didn’t have live broadcasts. I called into my friend LB’s show, but felt kind of out of it. Something felt off. Shortly, I would find out what.
I greatly looked forward to the Steve Dore concert. Various feeds covered various events. Unfortunately, when it came time for the concert, we heard very weird static. I must say, as static goes, it sounded very unique, with a digital quality, mixed with the fading in and out sound of a location-related issue. If we put a weird beat behind it, we could have the acid techno remix of Steve Dore. I did not feel in the mood for experimental noise music on this night however, I wanted to hear Steve Dore, especially after getting the song Don’t be a Sheep stuck in my head a few days previously. Sadly, the static continued, and I missed the concert. I felt annoyed. I hope they at least recorded it. I could empathize with their problems. Maybe the club had a classic burnout soundman!
Yesterday, coverage continued. I watched cspan2 for most of it, as btm had problems all day. I did switch to them in the short period that cspan put FEMA on, but cspan had superior audio quality, which means the most to me. I did not touch it during Ron Paul’s speech. Jesse Ventura also gave a great speech, in which he questioned 9/11, and said that if he saw enough action, that he may run for president in 2012. Ron Paul gave another of his wonderful speeches. They all seem to say the same things, but hearing the words and witnessing the context makes each one different. The crowd sounded huge, chanting “End the Fed!” and applauding. Everyone felt energized, I can only imagine how it felt to attend. I feel like doing something! I just hope breakthematrix gets their audio under control. I feared this would happen. If they would have offered me a proper platform, I would have gone, and had the sweetest sounding audio of all the feeds. It also seems fair to note that breakthematrix tested their new Modavox
platform for the first time, so they had a lot on their plate. Trying to deal with new systems during the chaos of a live event really does suck. Oh well, at least yesterday guaranteed one thing: that we will have many more events!
